Brand New Yanmar SV-40 Mini Excavator overview

Brought home our new Yanmar SV-40 mini excavator! Quick little overview and playing on the mud.

My 19 year old JD HPX Gator with a Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel still runs great. I like Yanmar engines.
What amassed me is Yanmar does not recommend synthetic engine oil.

that thing looks so damn sweet, not really familiar with the Yanmar units more of a Komatsu guy myself but looks like a very fine machine.

Nice machine, we just got a new Takeuchi TB240 a few weeks ago, it came down to either that or the SV40 and honestly the Yanmar was my first choice but our Tak dealer worked us a great deal on a leftover model. It has 46 hours now and has been a huge upgrade from the older cat 303 we had. Comparing specs the yanmar and tak are pretty similar both have the same engine and almost identical dimensions for the dig radius, depth, reach out etc. I’m now a firm believer in Japanese engineering for heavy equipment lol

With the thumb hooked up, do you have to enable the computer to allow the use of the thumb every time you start it? Kubota blocks aux until you hit ok on the screen, my last rental machine had that and it was the most frustrating thing I have ever seen., spoke to dealer as im looking and they said they can't bypass it... so kubota is out.

Yanmar could’ve changed minor things with cab like the screen has been same for like 10yrs, maybe improvements to track rollers- I’ve seen several tracks come off, but I believe some abuse was there too. But all in all probably 80% of compact mini’s use Yanmar engines…. There’s a reason for that. Also, the reversible bucket is great for digging away from you like under fence row where you don’t have access to other side. Then Yanmar has the 4yr 4000hr warranty that’s amazing. SANY has 5yr/ 5000hr warranty, but they are junk comparing

U might be better to have a ditch cleaning bucket it has no teeth leaves a nice clean finish wish I could afford one
