She could have lost a finger very easy reaching up for the rope as she feel. I worked with cranes for years so spent alot of time in harnesses.
When you fall you reach & grab for anything, it's an evolutionary reaction we have, that's the reason the instructor explains exactly where to put your hands, she reached up into the rigging as she fell. Quite as few people have lost fingers that way. Wonder if her friends would have thought it was such a good idea if that happened 😅

If someone did that to me, I'd cut ties with them. Making someone think they're falling to their death is not a fun and cutesy little prank, that is trauma you're gleefully inflicting on another person. Life is too short to spend a moment of it with or around abusive people.
