Dagan checks out the MIGHTY Gretsch G5222 Electromatic Double Jet in Aged Natural, which he unintentionally recorded on the 4 year anniversary of the passing of Malcolm Young, not this release, just the actual recording, which I've just noticed typing this now, RIP Mal... This guitar is just stunning, old school Gretsch looks, feel, tone and vibe, and it won't bust the bank!

The all-new G5222 Electromatic Double Jet BT V-Stoptail delivers Broad'Tron power with classic Jet clarity.

At the heart of each Electromatic Jet is a chambered mahogany body with maple top that produces a rich, present mid-range that accentuates big lows and shimmering highs.

A pair of Black Top Broad'Tron pickups drive the chambered mahogany body with maple top through thick, aggressive overdrive while maintaining astounding definition and note balance suitable for the most pristine clean tone.

The Electromatic Jet is equipped with essential features that give you complete tonal control. The combination of individual pickup volume controls, master tone and master volume with treble bleed circuit provides intuitive global control over your pickup and tone settings.

I went into my guitar shop looking for a les paul style guitar... The guy there asked if I ever played a Gretsch, handed me this guitar and I bought it straight away. Ive had it over a year and I play everything on it. From Tool to Metallica to Pearl Jam and Rage Against the Machine. Its an awesome guitar. Can't recommend it highly enough and the colour just makes it recognisable straight away to everyone.

I got this back in may..it plays and feels like it should have cost double the price. It needed no set up. Action intonation spot on. Nice frets no sharp ends.. was going to change the pickups but there was no need.. it’s a stunning guitar and even though I have some more expensive guitars this is my go to. If you’re on the fence just go buy one.. you won’t regret it

I feel like I've been chasing the sounds this guitar produces for 15 years and now I must have one.

I love the clean look of the guitar... that beautiful maple and just the crescent inlays on the edge of the fretboard. Gives a good variety of tones too. Class act, Gretsch.

I've got one of these and gone complete Malcolm Young mode and taken the neck pickup out and had the middle pickup routed out, the finish dulled, and put bolts in the holes where the pots were. I fucking love it, it's great because it's like a Malcolm replica for less than £1000.

Pairing that guitar with the Boss Katana Artist is heaven in itself 🤌🏽

The dirty tones were exactly what I was expecting, but I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised by the clean tones, fell in love with the middle position one, that's absolutely gorgeous AND idiosyncratic sounding too!!!! Great video, thanks!

First AC/DC song I'd play is 'High Voltage' as that's the song which really made them big time in Australia and the rest, is as they say, history.

Rick Parfitt of Status Quo is right up there with Malcolm as the greatest rock rhythm guitarists.

Gretsch wasn't on my radar. I was down at Guitar Center checking out some player teles and epiphone les pauls when one of these caught my eye. I played it for about an hour. I might buy one, I really liked.

I have this Gretsch. In Jade Grey and it's amazing. I've put up a video to compare with a strat.

I love mine. Your comment about the middle position using a clean amp is so true. I find I can get early George Harrison sounds with that combo. Sweet and ringing. I put 12s on mine with a wound G string (needed a slight truss adjustment to handle the higher tension, as you would expect). Now it is a tone beast!! Love it for Highway to Hell, Rock or Bust, and Shake a Leg!

I bought one of these but with the Bigsby (used $300 U.S.). I wasn't happy about the "famous Filter 'tron I removed the Bigs and installed a trapeze tailpiece. Now she's good.

These are so good. I got mine this summer and am absolutely smitten with it. These pickups have a “raspiness” to them that I can’t get anywhere else. That’s that gnarl Dagan mentioned. Having issues finding a hard case though.

I purchases when it first came out. I said YES! A Malcolm type looking Gretsch without paying the 3K$$. Neck is like a Les Paul. Nice weight, I love pickups best of all. Clean very chimey like a bell, Add gain, and its some dirty greasy distortion. The first riff i WIRE
