I love the graphics. It's like they took all the things that made PS1 games beautiful in terms of artstyle (I love the way the Wipeout games look, for instance) and modernised it with more detail, long draw distances, smooth anti-aliasing and high resolutions. It's just so colourful and fun to look at. It's so lighthearted and whimsical.

Not having drivers quip to each other is a plus. I played the Speed Racer Wii game as a kid and hearing each driver you bump into make an attempt at witty banter got old quick.

If you are interested in this game, you should also check out Inertial Drift, which came out a day after this. It's great, and it's made for drifting, as it uses a twin stick control system where one of the stick is dedicated to drifting. It's a hidden gem.

Great little arcade game, but it seems like they didn't took cues from the classics. The gameplay is fun overall but the rubberbanding is way, way too aggressive. Which when paired with the fact that all the cars always move together in the track and behave like a hivemind (the cars on the back seem to throw themselves at you even at the risk of obviously crashing themselves just to protect the cars in the front) makes for a really crappy, unfair and many times luck based single player experience in Hard and Expert. This can be particularly frustrating given that one can't restart a race (only the full Grand Prix..)

What a gift from Game Pass this is. Wonderful stuff, and it's got 2-4 player split screen as well!

Why does noone complain about the flatness of the tracks? They have almost no verticality unlike Daytona, Ridge Racer etc.

Also the AI is more focused on taking you out of a race line and spinning you out than trying to win most of the time. The AI also has Mario Kart level catch up, even when you're so far ahead they couldn't draft off you. The feeling of speed is lacking all the time except when boosting.
AND, the menu is broken. If you're in the GP select, you can't got back to main menu. Just doesn't work.
Did they bug teat this past the ability to start a race??? Did they just port this straight from a crapped out old arcade cabinet that only released in japan on the 90's?!?!???!!
If this game was trying to piss me off enough to pop a blood vessel in my eyeball, then AMAZING SUCCESS.

It's a shame people on Steam are giving this game so much grief. Really feels like most of 'm just rage quit, before they bothered to git gud.
Though I do think the €20 price tag, is pushing it a little. Wait for a sale and you'll have a good time.
