I was just reading the wiki page for Berlin. I dont understand why on earth did they disband in 1987, an year after the phenomenal success of "Take my breath away"

Berlin as the epicentre of WW2 was the concentration point of the great powers, with their respective zones as prescribed at Potsdam. The various zones have survived I believe. Including the Soviet Zone. There were significant tensions at Checkpoint Charlie. As well as in John Le Carre’s novels. The US ambassador liked to attend operas in the Eastern sector of Berlin, to the chagrin of the Soviets posted there . On a particular occasion the ambassador’s car was stopped in the Eastern sector. A US Pershing tank immediately appeared at the barrier of Checkpoint Charlie, and likewise a T- 34 did appear on the East German side. And so on and so forth until it had to be “ talked down “ from a higher echelon and WW3 was averted. At least in those days you knew exactly where the next WW would start, the irony with nuclear war as the weapons are only useful as a deterrent. Once they are used then they are valueless. 💋 💋 💋
