[JEE ADVANCED} A CONCEPTUAL QUESTION ON POTENTIAL OF A CONDUCTOR WITH DIELECTRIC
Potential of charged sphere with dielectric layer. Try it | JEE Advanced | Olympiads [2020]

In this video we will discuss the solution to a beautiful problem finding the potential of a spherical condcutor surrounded by a spherical dielectric layer.

We first identify that to find the potential, we must divide it into two part: inside the dielectric and outside the dielectric. We then find the electric field in these regions using Guass law and thereby evaluate the potential.

One point to note: I have applied Gauss law inside the dielectric with total charge and not the free charge which we would do if we used "D" vector.

These kind of problems are crucial to raise one's problem solving ability for examinations like JEE ADVANCED, KVPY, PHYSICS OLYMPIADS and other such examinations around the world.
