Which side do you stand on right now? 🧐

Jamie, can you talk about Fermin and his performances in the Olympics? He has been sensational and scoring some incredible goals, but you've barely said a word. How does Dani Olmo effect Fermin's future? He is on fire! I don't want to see him rot on the bench now.

I liked how Pau Victor wasn't greedy and passed the ball to Lewandowski in the goal. That play itself is enough to convince me he is a generational talent. He doesn't play for himself, he plays for the team. Sadly though, there are players who play for themselves like Raphinha.

What I've seen in these friendlies:
-More La Masia kids = More chemistry and fluid play
-More non-La Masia = Unbalance in the team

I have lost hope for the Nico transfer, and that's frustrating because I think we need a solid LW more than another CAM 😅

My assessment on flick so far

1. Flick's setup usually starts with a 4-2-3-1 formation. During buildup, it spreads to a wide 4-2-3-1 with fullbacks staying wide. In midfield, it shifts to a 3-5-2, with one pivot player pushing forward to connect with attackers or hold play while fullbacks get into position. In the final third, it becomes a 2-3-5, with both fullbacks advanced, three attackers in the box, and 2-3 midfielders near the touchline for rebounds and to challenge the defense.

Flick focuses on moving the ball vertically through the middle, using low-driven passes to forwards. These forwards then quickly pass to the attacking midfielder to start an attack, with at least three players making runs behind the defense. This makes it difficult for opponents to man-mark all the attackers in the box.

We saw this strategy work with Pablo Torre’s goal against Man City and many chances created by the attacking midfielder in the first two games. Opponents often counter by pulling their fullbacks inward for more central defense, which opens up space on the flanks. This allows fullbacks to make quick crosses to the attackers in the box. This approach has already led to multiple goals, with Alex Valle contributing three assists and creating many chances.

2. In defense, Flick uses a tight 4-4-2 formation with a high line and a coordinated press. The press often starts when the ball goes to an opposing fullback. This strategy puts intense pressure on the opponents, aiming to win the ball back quickly, force a clearance, or draw a foul right after losing possession.

This style of play is both interesting and entertaining to watch, but it also presents some issues that need to be addressed early on.

Firstly, the intensity and players' willingness to maintain this for a full 90 minutes is crucial, especially for older players who are used to a more passive defensive role. For example, in the match against AC Milan, Gundogan and Lewandowski struggled with pressing effectively, giving the opposition time to pick out passes and break through. These players might be too old or not accustomed to this playing style.

Secondly, there’s the issue of playing style and squad depth. Based on recent games, it’s clear that the system relies on attacking full-backs who can cross and defend, three central forwards who link up quickly and get into the box, an aggressive pivot who can cover turnovers and play the ball out from the back, and a team that presses collectively. For Barcelona to compete for every title, we need two capable players in each position to handle injuries and suspensions.

Finally, compromise is necessary. Some players may see reduced time or switch positions due to the playing style. Players like Gundogan and Fermin might see less action, particularly in big games, due to their defensive shortcomings. Olmo, being a more complete player, is likely to get more minutes. Meanwhile, Yamal, Lewandowski, and Frenkie will need to work extra hard to maintain their spots in the starting eleven, given the strong performances from Alex Valle, Pau Victor, and Marc Bernal.

In conclusion, Barcelona has the potential to challenge for all titles this season. Their performance on tour highlights their teamwork, and with players like Yamal, Olmo, Gavi, and Pedri returning, fans are excited for the new season. While they might not win everything, the squad depth and new mentality make them a formidable force.

Thinking Deco doing a wonder is the greatest joke of the transfer market

Let it go Jaime, Nico isn’t coming to Barca. It’s about time we forgot about him and concentrated on either getting a replacement or working with what we’ve got

I feel like Lewa is rising under flick.... He will surely be a crucial goalscorer for us.... Pau Victor can succeed him in future

We as fans weren't happy when Auba, Paulinho, Luuk De Jong were signed but they gave us performances that were absolute class.. I hope even Olmo's signing eventually comes out in a similar way

Casado is the only player who played all 90 minutes in all of Barca and he played absolutely masterfully and as in every game - he was among the 3 best players!!!

I wasn’t convinced by Gündogan last year. I thought he slowed the game down needlessly, lost possession often while playing deep, and he routinely lost the player he was marking, which led to a few goals conceded. With Olmo joining, I think it might be time for him to go

Casado has to be integrated in our midfield idc who has to be benched 🙌🏾🙌🏾

"I'm back! And I'm really looking forward to this season. Vamos, Athletic!"
So yeah, Nico is not coming. We need to get real guys. Still keeping hope about this deal is delusional. Will be happy to be proven wrong.

Now that Olmo is here im hoping for the best, I just hope he doesn't displace fermin and Torre. We have a lot of rotation possibilities in midfield, that's exciting

That pass by pau was served a platter better than most fast food restaurants 😂. I’m sorry roque but pau can pass, dribble, shoot, defend and position well. Also lewa and raphina need to pass to pau more. He was open by himself multiple times 💯
