Fun fact: I'm 100% italian and my sicilian father taught me to eat spaghetti or any type of "long" pasta with the spoon! That's because, even if it's seen as a bad thing to do in most of Italian regions, in Sicily is not an unusual thing!

My childhood was a lie. My mother told me this is how Italians eat pasta. But I always put the spoon away anyway.

My Italian grandmother taught me to eat my spaghetti like this. My nani, her mother is Sicilian and Calabresi and has owned her own restaurant for a long time now. It's how my grandmother got into cooking and eventually became a chef. Using your spoon to twirl the pasta is cleaner, makes less noise, and is just overall easier and genuinely not that big of a deal. It depends on the family more then anything
