ADD IMPACT to Your Photos with Free Transform [Adobe Photoshop]

Have you ever wondered why your landscape photos may not have the impact that you would like? This is something that I've been thinking about a lot lately, especially while editing some of my older shots. One of the common elements that jumped out was that my backgrounds (and sometimes my foregrounds) weren't nearly as impactful as I remember them being. Mountains that I knew were gigantic looked tiny in my frame. Fortunately, fixing these things is pretty easy thanks to the Free Transform tool in Adobe Photoshop (or any other layer-based editing app).

Just viewed this today. A little late to the party, but better late than never. I realize being late means you might not see this post, but some viewers may. They should know that you know how to teach.
Brain, wow, thank you for the great tut.
Your only misstep was naming it wrong.
Should have been: Adding Near True to Life Impact to Your Photos with Free Transform.
This title fits because that is what you did. You enhanced something that was already there; and now, after the transform is probably closer to what you saw live with your own eyes then we saw in the original photo. I will admit though that your transform most likely created more impact than the typical daily edit and probably only takes 45 seconds or so to do.
I’m sure those mountains looked great in person, and now they look great in the photo.
I now must find some of my photos that this may work in.
I checked a second tut of yours called, Lightroom Masking: Intersect tutorial, which was also great and very detailed, so I subscribed. Thanks again.

"NO NO, GOD Please NO !" That was worth a like. Laughed out loud. Great tutorial Brian . This is the simplest explanation I've seen of this technique.

This is not just photography... This is ART. Thank you.
Some people are just photographs. A few are artists.

I like the FT tool for this very purpose. Actually the "manipulation" aka "Photoshopped" makes the photo more true to life or how we perceive it with our eyes. Whether you use post processing tools or lens in the field, we as photographers are creating a vision. I have used my 600mm for landscapes which gives the look you were able to create with FT. Great tutorial Brian

Very resourceful. I understand exactly what you meant. I would think that most landscape photographers agree with you. The solution means to "recover" the compression issue created by the type of lens. I have no issues with it. Thank you so much. Great video. 👍🙏😀

A great help indeed. It really works. I may be the only one, but the stretching of the mountains (sample 1) should be done very carefully. Having hiked the tops of the Alps in Europe and the peaks in the States, I have a feeling for proportion. But the way of correcting the lens compression is a thing to do. The best one is the third where you add the correction to the horizon. Thanks for this extra tip. This use of Photoshop to correct the limits of the technology of the camera is a blessing for the true representation.
