This is actually exactly how I accidentally taught myself binary without realising when I was like 10.
I counted on my fingers like this, but didn’t know what binary was at the time. Very helpful

Pro tip: use ternary by having "half-up" fingers

using this method you can actually only count to 1023, unless you decide to start with all fingers down as 1, or count all fingers down as 1024, but its more logical to call that 0

Fun fact: I practiced this so much on car rides as a kid that it's engraved into my muscle memory and is how I count on my fingers/remember order numbers and things like that
