Speed is unimportant to learning a track. What matters most is the gear you’re in, as it closely relates to the speed of the car and is much simpler to associate with your senses. #simracing #iracing #tutorial #guide #howto #lesson #motorsport #gt3 #porsche #porschecup #racecar #racinggames #gaming #pcgaming #racing #assettocorsa #granturismo #gt #gt7 #forza #f1

Tbh I just tend to listen to the engine sound and see what the acceleration is like to know what gear I’m in

“You’re not having to memorize which of the six gears”
Me: *plays F1 and already knows this while racing with an 8 gear + reverse car*

Is it bad to sometimes use the speed as a reference to see if im braking too hard into the corner?

I'm new to sim racing but wouldn't it be better to know the entry speed and apex speed to know how much you need to decelerate/carry through the corner?

Could the actual speedometer speed be useful for knowing when to shift up on a straight, even with the engine noise I always feel like I shift a little too early/late

I don’t agree. The only think that should give you the sense of speed if your forward vision, peripheral vision and the engine sound.
