In fact guys both of these extendable tripods gonna do exactly the same job, as you can use them as a selfie stick, mini grip and portable tripod. These are great for short day trips or even a weekend trip as they dont take any space in your bag, you can carry it even in your pocket for convieniece. I used my gopro shorty for almost 2 years now and many times i didnt bother taking big tripods and instead decided for gopro shorty simply for convienience. Unless i was going for a specific shot when i really needed to get something awsome to shoot etc.
My only complain so far with gopro shorty is that its not stable for timelapses i had certain videos ruined because the wind shaked it a bit here and there and it was noticable on my nightlapse and timelapse videos. Sometimes you can fix it in post and many times you simply cant.
So the question is if you want to stick to GoPro accessories or prefer a budget version, cause thats what Ulanzi MT-09 really is. It can save you some hard earned money and what you get in return is alomst identical like with the original one.
My only complain with MT-09 is that the extension pole could be a little bit smoother, now i dont remember how it was in the begining with my GoPro shorty but as far as i remember it wasnt as stiff as MT-09 is.
All and all i think its a solid mini extendable tripod that you can take with you on your journey.
