Woodturning - Spalted Pecan Bowl

In this week’s project Harry and I take a piece of Pecan which I picked up over the holidays and turn a bowl. In this video I decided to practice using my 40-40 grind bowl gouge and bottom bowl gouge. I also used a jam chuck in a similar way Stuart Batty does his bowl demonstrations.

While the 40-40 gouge does take practice it does leave an exceptional finish once you get the hang of it. You might be expecting to see a bit more pecan turnings showing up as I’ve got access to 4 large trees that blew down back where I grew up.
