Starmer speech: Public wants PM to 'level with them'

Health Secretary Wes Streeting says the British public will take "real comfort in the honesty" following Sir Keir Starmer's first address to the Labour Party conference as prime minister.

Sir Keir told delegates the government would have to make more "unpopular" decisions in order to make a "Britain built to last".

Mr Streeting said the PM "spent the summer talking about the need to fix the foundations", and today described "the house he wants to build on those foundations".

All Labour ministers and Labour activists and all Labour MP’s want the public to believe the Tories left a £22 Billion black hole so it’s perfectly reasonable to take £1.5 billion from the pensioners winter fuel allowance, that’s wrong why not wait till next year when the pensioners have received their annual pension payments which is the most sensible thing to do.I personally would like to see the proof of the £22 billion black hole because the government has spent billions on other projects.
