Without doubt Art Pepper is among my major "influencers" in playing the alto saxophone. Actually, his style is what I aspire to sound like, infused with my own. I just love the music of this great jazz artist. May his "art" be "peppered" for always. In this jazz giant I believe.

This was the band that Art felt most at home with. You can hear it in his playing. I was at an Art Pepper tribute in Hermosa Beach and during a round table discussion and Laurie Pepper said as much.

Je crois que Art Pepper est l'un des "most underrated artists" du jazz (ses histoires de drogue, je ne sais pas). Mais sa musique lui survit tant bien que mal. J'ai eu la chance de le voir à Vienne (France) en juillet 1981. J'avais le menton sur la scène et il a fait "Ophélia" en rappel. Un de mes plus beaux souvenirs de concert, tous styles confondus… Thanks, Art.
