I would like to point out that believing & trusting in something are essentially 2 different things.

Many ppl believe in God, but they don't trust him & instead trust in themselves, cuz they're in the physical & can see what's happening. Trusting God is harder for them cuz they can't see what he's doing.

This is why we Christians often say, "we walk by faith not by sight." Amen 🙏

Example, I can believe enough in myself to pass a test, cuz I'll make sure I study hard enough, or I believe enough in myself that I could ride a Rollercoaster that has a high drop, not cuz I trust that I'll catch myself if I fall but that I can be brave enough to go on.

Now, ONLY trusting in oneself is not what we are to do but rather believe enough in ourselves cuz God made us but not enough to say we don't need God & instead do things our way.

Essentially, we are to know & trust God's Word so much so that we understand he will NEVER fail us & to understand we have indeed failed trying to do things our way.

But believing that you can do things if you put your mind to it is not all that wrong it's rather not having enough faith in God to guide you the right way through it all. Of course, with regard to what it is you're trying to do, aligns with his word.
