El Moro Canyon Loop Trail Guide (Crystal Cove SP)

The El Moro Canyon Loop Trail might be the perfect hike in Crystal Cove State Park. It's not too long, offers a bit of climbing, and showcases the incredible ocean views that Crystal Cove is famous for. My version of the hike offers the easiest parking and cuts off a section along the road.

I love this park. I've camped here had to hike in 3miles. I've done almost all the hikes. Such a good workout. Also a tip if you don't want to pay $15 for parking or just start a different way, there's a park all the way in the top near the 73fwy you can park there.

Crystal Cove is a hidden gem of Southern California. I haven’t done this hike - but when my son gets a little older, I imagine we’ll be doing this regularly!

I’ve done this hike a couple times before. Maybe not this particular loop. But i usually park by the Coastal Peak Park because i’m cheap and didn’t want to pay a parking fee lol

This, the laguna wilderness and Aliso Woods are the gems of the OC. I hike, bike and run the area. A historical note on the down hill (roped off now) is a WW2 submarine observation bunker. One of only a couple left on the coastline.

This isn’t near me but it’s interesting to see anyway. I think the way you did this is effective - like the little arrows pointing to the trail junctions.

I hate black mustard plants. Ticks seem to love them for launching pads. I try to avoid the plant but even with an anti-tick spray (picaridin 15%), a tick landed on me this last weekend. Nasty buggers. I got’em off me before he could get breakfast. Love your channel.

I need to spend more time there. I live in Irvine at the moment and yet I end up going much further afield to hike, when this place is practically in my backyard. I even pass there to go swimming in Laguna multiple times a week.

It’s been hot out there! I hiked the Little Sycamore & Serrano Ridge Loop (Nix Nature Center) yesterday. They don’t open the parking lot until 8. It was super nice and overcast when I started but quickly the sun broke through and I was drenched 😂
I’ve always wanted to spend a night at the camp ground up there in Moro. Will have to book it sometime.
Is that the Osprey hikelite you’re using? I have the hikelite 18 and love it!
Cheers from Laguna Hills!

I did this trail last year, it was good. Was wondering if maybe you could do a guide either here on YT or on the site for the 16 mile or so Scharbarum-Skyline Trail that starts at Pathfinder Park in Rowland Heights and ends at the Workman Mill Staging Area in Whittier? I have only done part of the hike because of its length - it is doable in a day if starting early enough.
