quick question. from what I am currently learning in university, I am taught that for substitution effect the hypothetical budget line should be drawn tangent to the initial indifference curve which will then show the substitution effect and the income effect. So I am a little confused with the diagram drawn in the video

Thanks for the video. Why do we draw the point D higher up on the indifference curve relative to point A? IF point D was right above then we wouldn't have the same substitution effect? As in how do we know which to draw

How is point D preferable to to point C. The whole point of the indifference curve is that all points on it have the same level of preference either option will make you equally happy.
If point D and C are on the same indifference curve how can you say that one is preferable to the other? I really do not understand how the overall effect works.

You didn't describe how to actually calculate the indifference curve.. and then graph it. Waste of time.
