Either they like it either not the real name is Constantinople, and even the word Instabul is a Greek word bc it's from Εις (μέσα) στην πόλη(Is tin poli), = In(side) the city and bc we Greeks where saying that Othman's get into Constantinople they take it and called our city Instabul, but either like it either not the historical name is Constantinople.

Both names are greek. You explained the first one "Constantinople". The second one, "Istanbul" comes from the preposition "εις"( Is pronounced with S not z) the article "την " and the noun "Πόλη" ( Poli). Poli means city and that's how it was called Constantinople/ Istabnul at the the time. Meaning " going to the Town.

Istanbul is also greek name and it means is tin poli = at the city because when somebody wanted to say where he goes was saying at the city because for us is the city of cities

Instabul, is greek wording. It is a paraphrase of 'is tin poli"εις την Πόλιν which means to the city whereas the city for Greeks was meaning Constantinopolis. This expression lasts for centuries . In any case it is the city of Constantine the Great the greek empirer who created it.

In Bulgarian 🇧🇬 you can call it Istanbul or Tsarigrad (Цариград) basically this means the city of 🤴 👑 Kings. I speak also some Greek since my family 👪 is of Greek heritage. Constantinople means the city of Constantine 💒⛪☦

Curiously "Istanbul" is also greek! "Istabul" is the Turkish rendering of an ancient Greek designation: "εἰς τὴν πόλιν" (into (the) city)
The Turks called it by Qosṭanṭanīye استانبول, and by other names!

Be aware that after 1453, the year that we lost Constantinopole, that name existed until 1930. In 324 a c took a name and kept it until 1930, so it s logical to call Constantinopole instead Istanbul that even now the turkish people can not give an explanation about the meaning of the word Istanbul.

ISTANBUL is also a Greek name
IS-TAN-BUL = Εις την Πόλη = is tin Poli = to the town
BUL in Turkish language means Poli (town)
But ISTANBUL for us as Greeks "Is-tin-poli" is not a name of town, is just a direction ....THE REAL NAME IS CONSTANTINOPLE

Even today the citizens Turkey knows that the name instabul is a paraphrase of Konstantinpul as the Turks could pronounce it. The most amazing fact is that the very many citizens of the Turkey state know the name of the city was Konstandinopoli even though the present name of the city is instabul which is paraphrase of the original name of the city. When the Turks as nomadic tribes and fierce warriors from Turkmenistan came to East Asia through Iran where they became Muslims. At that time tens of λαοί lived in east Asia like Kurdish Armenians lidy ancient greek tribes such as Aeolian s in Pergamos Ionians in Smirni, Doriys, etc they were peasants in cities like Effessos Attalia. All those aerias were inhabited by what we call today greeks They spoke Greek. Other societies were Palestine Philistines Syrians and many others no Turk no Arabs population. From Turkmenistan came 15.000 soldier with their families. Next to Smirni there was a great kingdom called the Sun s kingdom Ηλιούπολη The story of ilioupoli is buried... but is the first attempt of a state of equality and Sharing all they produced. All these people lived in peace and developed a common humanistic culture for thousands of years before and after the nomadic Turk tribes tribes come to live in the east Asia.❤

Πέρα απο όλα αυτά. Μόνο γλωσσικά η λέξη Istanbul προέρχεται απο τη φράση "εις την Πόλη".
