Utterly mind-exploding!!!! One of the heaviest recordings ever produced.

This is some of the heaviest riffage ever. Rock doesn't get any better than this.

Dickie is so underrated as a singer! I love his voice. Soulful and as rusty as 50 year old nails in a coffee can.

1968 concert at Eagles Auditorium in Seattle. Blue Cheer opened for Pink Floyd. The building held about 500 and one week would be Cream, the next Steve Miller, the next It's a Beautiful Day, then Jethro Tull, Paul Butterfield band, Joe Cocker, etc., etc., you get the picture.
A few years later...about 77 I saw BC at the Rainbow Tavern on 45th st. in the University District. Two shows and I would have stayed for a third that night as the king of feedback was lit up.

Absolutely Brilliant!! I loved these guys from the start!! They were so far ahead of their time it's not even funny!! The very "FIRST" Heavy Metal band!! This version is incredible!!! Love It!! R.I.P. Dickie...I miss you much!! Thanks for the music man!!

This stuff absolutely rocks! As for the comparisons to NIRVANA, they were fans of
BLUE CHEER, as evidenced by a video they did at Krist Novoselic's house in 1988!
A copy of their album, VINCEBUS ERUPTUM, was lying on the floor as they were
doing some rehearsals!

I was a freshman at college in 1969. Bought Blue Cheer Vincebus Eruptom and MC5 Kick Out the Jams albums. Colege and life were never the same after that.

Actually, as a musician who has played Rock music for years, I can tell you that when amps are loud enough they, the speakers, push air. If you stand near a Marshall amp cranked up, you can feel the air moving. My friend who heard Blue Cheer in a fairly small club is a musician and sound tech. 'Cheer' were using 3 Marshall stacks apiece----cranked up full. That is NOT including the P.A. I assure you, that setup would definitely have moved enough air to blow smoke out the doors when opened. Damn!!! That puts most of the so-called heavy shit today to shame!!
Dickie and Leigh used to use THREE Marshall stacks each. And not for show. Each amp was used----everything on 10!
The guitarist in our band saw them live back then. He said they were so loud that the air coming from the speakers would blow the smoke out the doors!! the fu#k ahead of their time!!

Incredible guitar work by Leigh Stevens, just awe-inspiring. The end sounds so much like those 2 notes in Purple Haze, but that was released in 67 too, strange...

i met dickie and the band when they released whatever doesn't kill you.... shook his hand and said it was a life long goal to do so - he replied 'so what are you gonna do now ?' .... i said 'break whaleys legs and say you need a drummer and here i am" - we laughed - very cool guy.
