Maybe we'd get more recruits interested if our military did better things like building instead of destroying. I'd love to see that kind of manpower involved in improvement projects here at home instead of ignoring the problems going on here in order to pillage and plunder abroad

Or here's an idea maybe try to work on retention levels and opportunities for soldiers to grow and get promoted. Instead of the good old boy system

I'm only doing 3 years. Just not worth it anymore. Everything is slow, as in when you request for appointments or wanting to move, ect, the bonuses are no longer worth it, promotions don't feel rewarding, you also have to get promoted eventually and if you don't the army will kick you out, the social chemistry of your platoon or company, the police call, which just means cleaning but we do it so many times we might as well call ourselves janitors, and there isn't anything going on so we are just there to train, clean, and kill time.

They don't have the honor, pride and respect they had years ago. To low standards.

The shortfall in recruitment is almost equal to the number of Soldiers discharged over the vax. The Army didn't struggle with recruitment in the all volunteer force post Vietnam. Of course, Jimmy Carter's economics helped.

Young kids these day want to get rich fast by twitch, onlyfan, TikTok. Sad truth people under 30s still living with their parent, and most that move out is sharing roommates, living paycheck to paycheck with their fantasy of making big one day.

Actually, military standards have lowered gradually in the last few years. Using the military as a social justice experiment is a very bad idea. Most of the people who join are patriots and Christians, but when military leaders call them “extremists”, expect to lose a significant recruit base.
