While the global shortage of surgical masks continues to get worse, some social entrepreneurs in Hong Kong are coming up with solutions that involve manufacturing reusable fabric mask kits, and adapting air conditioners’ filters in their designs.

HEPA filter is an acronym for High-Efficieny Particulate Arrestance and is a type of air filter. They are composed of a randomly arranged fibre. The fibres are typically composed of fiberglass and possess diameters between 0.5 and 2.0 um.

Indirect air is better than straight in air. Copper or silver based spray would be antiviral. I personally believe that breathing your own contaminated air back in or having poor ventilation will cause longer recovery from recontamination.

Also the filters specify they attract allergens and such - like pull particles out of the air. Is that a consideration here in using the filters as inserts for masks? Ahhh I just learned that citric acid repels viruses and bacteria...must research that more.
