possibly the worst part about this is that each time this error occurs you have to download everything all over again

this is super annoying, if you somehow click the retry button it will wipe out all of the downloaded files,
who in the right mind design launcher like this?
normal and sane person would think the retry button only redo the verification not f***ing downloading again from the start

Edit: It's possible that the reason for this mess is the launcher failed to extract the zip file (located in Star Rail/Games), could be disk space issue/firewall/connection or whatever the cause.
sadly this video failed to mention the zip file location, only ambiguously mention "zip file" on method 2, and the launcher is too incompetent to keep the file when "verification failed" happen and automatically wipe out the zip file.
if you check the Star Rail folder size only few hundreds MB, chance is you're fu**ed-up already. The Games folder inside is already empty.
All the methods in this video is useless imo, sorry, because force closing the launcher after verification failed pop up in method no.1 won't help anything, the zip file mentioned in method no. 2 is already gone and the rest of video can't be done anyway.

My suggestion is to keep track the Games folder inside, it should keep getting bigger as the download going, and back up somewhere else once it's near 100%. so when this stupid launcher failed to extract the zip file we already have the 90% or something of the zip_tmp file backed up, and whenever we want to retry, we can just copy paste that file into Games folder then we only need to continue downloading the 10% of missing files.

In my case, My game files were zipped inside the games folder.After 100% download, I cancelled the verification and extracted both files (English zip and Star Rail). Then open the Starrail.exe. DO NOT OPEN THE LAUNCHER.After extracting delete the the 2 files.They are big.

Don't even bother with the crappy launcher just manually unzip the files and open the main star rail.exe. It's a pain in the ass tho since you need to uninstall and redownload and install the game again to play the new version since the launcher "can't find your game files" and can't update the game for you. If you unzip the game files manually
