I love the fact real WW2 vets were used in this movie.
Both American and Japanese vets. It was poetic.
My Grandpa fought in the Pacific. He would of loved this movie.
RIP Grandpa.

This historical documentary convinced me that the battleship is the greatest weapon humanity has to offer. Thank you.

A WWII battleship was probably, structurally, one of the toughest built ships ever. Then getting the alien ship within range of the 16in guns was perfect. I will always enjoy these clips.

All Iowa class battleships like the USS Missouri were upgraded with modern (at the time) systems in the 1980s. They also have cruise missiles, Phalanx CIWs, Harpoon torpedoes, and of course almost all the original cannons and guns. The Iowa class battleships have the modern weapons of a destroyer combined with the raw firepower, armor, and size of a battleship. They are practically unbeatable.

The Iowa class Battleships might be 70 years old but this is one reason to keep them around in a Digital World. When an EMF weapon disables all modern electronic ships these will be called into action. There is also a mothball fleet of cruisers and destroyers, ready to be activated in case of nuke EMF or weapon.

One of the funniest and silliest films in a long while. Looking forward to the sequel where a Spanish galleon sinks the US Pacific fleet.

I like how the alien bomb things look like the pegs from the game.

Did anyone else get goosebumps from the jets/music coming in?

*Edit: I mean at 4:45

I don't care if this scene doesn't make sense (the fact that a space ship has no shielding against big bullets) it's still

see, in world war 2, we knew what fire power was...
now all we know is 1 dang cannon and make it look fancy

Next on Mythbusters - can you drift with a Battleship?

"We need to build it small scale, and then we need to do it large scale! And then we need to blow it up!"

One of my all time favorite movies. Some years ago when the Iowa was parked at the "mothball" fleet in Suisune bay I got close in my 21' Nordic picklefork and was in trouble with Navy persons who told me that I could not be that close. Great sight being that close. The Iowa is GIGANTIC
