This merger will end my association on social media with the PGA Tour and I will never watch one of their events ever again. What a slap in the face to the loyal PGA Tour players.

- - -big bonus for the Commissioner and Mr. Dunne for brokering the sale of PGA to the Saudis.

How much did Jay Monahan receive to agreed to the merger?

So Fred Couples was one of the big noise makers about Phil, LIV and the loyalty towards the PGA, He and Rory where the two poster boys.. well they have been bitten in the backside... so FC is very reserved and no where to be heard after the deal announcement..

The real reason is that the PGA was running out of money, and even worse sponsors were leaving and refusing to agree to the elevated event purses

It’s not like most of the top players aren’t already filthy rich, why do they need more?

All the guys who stood by monahan and his “ principles” should sue him for the money they lost not going to liv in the first place . Young up and coming golfers are going to be faced with a super league of elite and ridiculously paid golfers that will be as impregnable as the premiership soccer, football, baseball, basketball etc leagues, there will be no money filtering down - just up .
No more real opens im afraid, no more suprise winners, no more level playing fields . How sporting ….. ill never forgive phil michelson .

IS Monihan really sick...or is he hiding until the dust settles?

At least the LPGA is safe. Maybe more support should go towards them

Best youtube report to date. Golf is caught in and held hostage by Hypocrisy, Greed, Dishonesty, and Manipulation. Until the players and the fans take control, like the Green Bay Packers (US Football) or like Manchester United (Eropean Soccer) the turmoil will continue. This is just the beginning of ill will, fighting, and the consequences of Hypocrisy, Greed, Dishonesty, and Manipulation.

The organizers will make a lot of money and the players are the pawns. Its all about money lets not kid ourselves.

The writing was on the wall when the PGA allowed several tours to exist prior to LIV. Tours where players on these tours (the Asian tour, the Korn Ferry tour et al ) could aspire to play for bigger paychecks and exciting venues. What went around came back around.

Bunch of narcissistic BS; these guys are INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS and should be allowed to play wherever they want. If PGA players feel so strongly…..boycott tournaments and see how long it takes for you to be forgotten.

If merge going forward, lawmakers should ask for payback tax money

Simple. Keep liv around and make all the players that went to liv play in liv. Don't let them in the PGA, and don't put them on TV. Make them earn new PGA cards after the LIV contract is up. Don't let them in majors. Till liv contracts end.

PIF is an investment company. They may put loads of money into the sport but in the end they will want it back. This will be bad for the fans as they will make it more and more expensive to watch. Another sport destroyed by money that is not interested in the sport but only by how much money it can make them, just the same as what happened to F1.

Broadcast television business has changed, with the windfall of money from networks dwindling. At some point, sooner than later, we’ll all be paying a “broadcast fee” to watch PGA events via streaming.

nothing new but good summary of everything. BTW: has anyone photo shopped the PGA Tour logo showing a keffiyeh on the PGA golfer? Please send to me!

There are a couple of points. First, this new company will control men’s professional golf globally so it’s a monopoly. The current situation is the PGA Tour have increased prize money beyond amount these events can generate and the same for LIV. So why would money be pumped into the game to pay wealthy golfers even more when the game is haemorrhaging money? A monopolist can set the price, and in this case prize money will go down to address unsustainable costs. The second issue is this that creating in a global monopoly, regulators in the US, Europe, UK and Asia are likely to review this deal and decide if it’s the best interests of their countries and citizens. This can take a long time. Until all regulators have approved this deal all parties must act as separate businesses. It could take several years to reach that point if it’s ever agreed. This deal is far from done.

I'll watch the non-PGA majors only, going forward. The Opens and The Masters. Next, the PGA will probably hire Dylan Mulvaney as the face of the new PGA Tour.
I hope sponsors start dropping PGA support.
