Fuslie: I just took a DNA test, turns out I'm 100% Chinese.

Honestly parents who know multiple languages not teaching/exposing their children to said language are doing that child a disservice man!

If your mom speaks Mandarin, and your dad speaks Cantonese, you should speak in Fuzhounese just to confuse them lol

This makes me feel better about myself that I’m not the only one who can’t speak their mothers tongue.

I mean China isn’t just China, it’s a very ethnically diverse country

😂I was raised in an English and Vietnamese speaking household. I don’t speak Vietnamese fluently tho but I understand it. I’m on the level of kindergartners if anything …

Imagine having two trilingual parents and then coming out speaking 5 languages

China has 56-57 ethnic groups alone. So “100% Chinese” is still not very specific, lol. You should get a test that actually will break it down by ethnic groups and not just country. China is hella diverse.

If I got a dna test saying I was 100% something and I don’t speak the language from there, somebody fucked me over

So relatable. My mother is Swedish and I moved to Sweden recently for grad school and I constantly get “why didn’t you learn Swedish growing up then?” When they hear my mom is from here. Pls take it up w her I’m sorry my toddler self didn’t ask for more language lessons

Same here. I really feel so out of place when I'm on vacation on my Father's hometown with my cousins when they are talking with each other.

China is a massive, diverse and traditionally isolationist country, so it's not that strange to be 100%, so it's probably not all that uncommon. Maybe you could see what provinces you have heritage from? I don't know though
