Her tone, pitch, phrasing, dexterity, rhythm, timing and improvisation will never ever be matched.

Voice, diction, rhythm, perfectly placed. This singer was so blessed and she blessed us so much. I saw her at the Jazz Fest in the 80s...she wore an Electric Blue dress and though the lights bothered her glaucoma, she gave about 3 encores. Pure class, pure woman, pure lady. Hate to say it but artists today can only try. The likes of Ella stayed in the game and kept their audiences wanting more. RIP dear one.

She could really ride the groove and SWING like she was married to the rhythm. This is magical!

In. Freaking. Credible. I knew Ella Fitzgerald was a great jazz vocalist. Now I know she was a jazz goddess. That is the finest example of scat singing I have ever heard.

Some good versions of Mr Strayhorn's A Train over the years by various singers but none come within miles of Ella's . Should be preserved for all time to show future folk just what we enjoyed in the 20th century. A golden age of music.

Ellas voice is so beautiful, and the instrumentation by Duke Ellington & his orchestra is perfect.
