Bjork's voice gives me goose bumps every time i hear her sing

An interesting factor that people usually don't take into account when analysing Björk and some other Icelandic singers is that Icelandic as a language is full of glottal stops and pre aspirated consonants. Also the accented syllable is always the first one in any word. Ie a lot Björk's specific stylings are very influenced by her mother tongue

Bjork has this elemental quality where she is being the music. When you see her sing live, she almost transforms from phrase to phrase and her entire body is the sound. Iconic musician!

I've always loved Björk. She has that little thing that takes you to a journey.

"I'm a fountain of blood... In the shape of a girl..." Always loved this song, thanks Beth.

There are many extraordinary artists in this world, but Bjork stands alone as a titan in my mind. When she sings about a seashell, it's like the seashell expressing itself before humans ever gave it its name. Straight from the salty foam, raw, sensual in its honesty! I hope lots of people discover her.

I don't want to be that guy that calls a song underrated, but this is the one. It deserves a place amongst the all time greats.

as someone who was born in 2002 i would do anything to go back in time to the 90s and see her perform much of her catalogue from her first 3 albums live

the thing that makes Björk so special is exactly the reason, that she never sang like any other....the way she sings "staccato", and her vocal highs sounded more like "controlled" screams made an impact in all of us....she somehow embodied the animal side of feeling and singing, nervously waiting and the releasing her energy in music.... i can imagine, this affected her voice in the long run( especially when you have to replicate it night by night on tour for decades ) all she said, that she used to sing near the sea back in Iceland, and there was pretty strong wind so you had to be imprinting marked her vocal she doesn't do that much anymore, is more relaxed and ventures into musical spheres that i don' t quite understand ....but hoiw many unique songs has she gifetd us seen her twice and i'll never forget those concerts

Joga from this same show is one of my favorite live performances.

One of those songs where her rich, beaming voice and evocative lyrics are just glowing - another example would be "Play Dead", this magnificent track that would have been at home in a Wagner opera ("Die Walküre"?)

She could have been recorded right there and straight into an album. Perfect.

A lot of trained singers don’t like her being so far afield from their training so it’s nice to see one that appreciates her. I personally put her up there with the top phrasers like Sinatra and Willie and she has more to work with in terms of natural gift and power, such an amazing artist. As others here say there seems to be a huge tie to her Icelandic upbringing in both delivery and atmosphere.

This brings me waaay back to 1998, that is when I knew about Björk, everything changed after that... For good, except for friends, with time they were less. Thank you for the memories.

I’ve had the pleasure to see her live twice. Two completely different sets, once with full band and once with only a string quartet. It was amazing

I remember I was invited to a meet and greet with Bjork back in the late 90s and we were told not to talk to her because she was resting her vocal chords and not talking between shows. I gave her a smile and a little wave and she smiled back

I saw her live for Biophilia, the concert was four hours long and I wanted more. She can just put you in a trance.
