"It's changing. The ice is getting thinner. Warming up early. Getting cold late. Summer is snowing, winter is raining." The native Alaskan community of Newtok is predicted to be underwater by 2017 and locals like Reppi Swan say it's getting harder and harder to hunt because of the rapidly disappearing ice. There are 23,000 glaciers in Alaska, and glaciologist Tad Pfeffer believes they are all shrinking. "Every day I wake up and look out my window and think, 'wow this is scary'", says Robin Bronen, a local of 25 years. As the imperative to relocate whole communities grows stronger, anxieties over lack of government funds, or action, is causing growing anger. In response locals have started filing law suits against the oil companies they hold responsible for the rising temperatures. "The government aren't dealing with the problem. Our lawsuit is going to the source", argues local resident Colleen Swan. Has Alaska already reached the tipping point?

I LIVE IN WASILLA AND ITS JULY 2019. TODAY IT WAS 91 DEGREES. THE OTHER DAY ANCHORAGE HAD THE HOTTEST DAY ON RECORD AT 90 DEGREES. IT’S HORRIBLE AND THERE ARE FORREST FIRES EVERYWHERE SO ITS SMOKEY TOO. EVERY PLACE SOLD OUT OF FANS AND AIR CONDITIONERS. I’M DEFINITELY GOING TO SAVE FOR AN AIR CONDITIONER AND AM GOING TO BUY ONE EARLY NEXT SUMMER.

This is SUCH a tough subject. So many people have their entire lives and skills structured around the extracting and processing of the Earth's natural resources. Any plan, has to be a real plan, that includes restructuring without creating human distress & poverty. I understand the spectrum and the argument, but the right solutions are what will allow the proper backing through legislation, and funding from the big banks here. I'm glad that the UN has taken this time to reinforce the need to world awareness to this subject. A miniature mock-up, implementing potential future weather condition simulations, should be initiated & recorded proving the solutions and potential growth for them. Something the size of a small domed community. Being able to simulate the increased heat, and test the solutions, will really broaden the care to this topic. It isn't enough to just make people aware, but we have to make people care about the planet. Simulating within a dome town, may prove to be a critical weight for the "going clean" side of the scaled argument. Remember, there are people in some cold places saying they don't mind global warming. This issue is harder than world peace. Proper approach is key. Construction benefits, job creation benefits, proven sustainability potential, proven future waste solutions, proven food adjustment planning, potential future lifespan costs calculated to scales, & technology gains are just few things needed to be proven in order to win this argument. Achieving these results on a smaller, more controlled scale, may just win the power of the world people over! My prayer is FOR these solutions, and FOR a BETTER WORLD!! I'm KEVIN NAPIER, an THAT is MY 2 CENTS!

This is not new information. The frozen grounds have been melting for hundreds, if not thousands of years. The usgs has known about all this for at least over a hundred years since the gold rush.

3.89x10^22 Joules deposited into the middle of the North Equatorial current on it's way to the Arctic, enough heat to melt the Arctic seven times over, might explain it. It is much more intelligent to blame it on a slight increase in the .002 percent of the atmosphere that is manmade carbon dioxide. No wonder we don't have a fusion reactor yet.

During the last ice age Alaska was 3C warmer than now and trees grew in areas which today are too cold for trees. The remains of trees are scattered around the arctic areas of Alaska. During the Little Ice Age 1630 - 1730 temperatures were warmer than today in western Alaska. The ancestors of the Innuit came from the west across the then above sea-level Bering Straits and plant and animal remains show that they came from the west from Siberia. Eurasian moose arrived in Alaska during the last Ice Age. Warming Alaska is nothing new and masses of evidence including population migration demonstrates this. The mantra of this video clearly shows that ignorance reigns supreme. The past is the key to the future.

Greenland is cooler. The Arctic has more ice. Now the Alarmists are trying Alaska.
