Kershaw Scallion Knife - My Favorite EDC Knife
The Kershaw Scallion Knife has been my EDC knife for the last few years. I have several, in different colors as well. I often gift this knife to others - more than any other item I have owned and reviewed. So, that is saying a lot! We were not provided this knife to review. I simply wanted to show what I use and why I like it.

I have 2 Scallions now, but I've had a few over the years. I bought the first over 20 years ago at a Sears in San Jose. It was in a blister pack. If I remember right, it had Craftsman branding on it. Lost it to the wonderful people at TSA.

I carried a Kershaw Link 1776 for a long time, but it's a bit heavy and big. Last year the torsion bar broke and I was left with a very unsafe knife. I ended up tightening the pivot screw so the detent would be decent. Eventually, i think I'll mod the inner liners to have holes for magnets... Most recently, I've switched to carrying either a CRKT M16 10KS, 10KZ or an 01KS (I switch them up). The beauty of these knives is that they don't use springs but pretty much open like if they were assisted. Additionally, the pivot screw is a simple flathead screw, that also has a grip surface that enables you to adjust the knife (if needed) with your thumb! They do look more intimidating than the Scallion though, as they're pretty military looking :P

Scallion and Leek are my all time most carried knives too. Would love to see a carbon scaled version
like the Leek for an even lighter model.

Just got one off the tool truck Thursday, same knife you got glass nylon handle, wish it had a black blade but its going to replace my civivi brazen tanto as my edc. Like the smaller knife i was so use to the larger brazsn though, got a good steel upgrade also but not a fan of not having a deep carry pocket clip. All knifes should have deep carrys.

I agree! I have the same two. The original Ken Onion design with holes in the blade. Perfect size. A smooth operator. My other EDC is the Opinel # 6 carbon steel.

Sean, good review. I have a few Leeks. Great knives. I don't buy knives to satisfy emotions so I only have necessary working and EDC knives and I have maybe 8-9 knives. My working knives are the Kershaw Knockout which I use overseas and my Buck 040 Onset. Both great knives. My Knockout has proven to be indestructible. Recently I bought the copper Leek CPM154. I'm sure it's a good knife but since I'm working out of CONUS right now I won't get my hands on it for a few weeks. You mentioned that if there was a reasonable competitor to the Scallion (in my case the Leek). After much research I just ordered a Buck 722 Spitfire. US made, 420HC Bos steel. I think It will work as well as my Leeks and I guess I'll find out when I get home. Have a look at it. I'd be interested to see you use it and review it. $50 on Amazon. Thanks Sean.

Scallion is a dandy, only other favored as much is the Boker Plus Cataclyst. Just a little bit bigger and heavier than the Scallion.
