After not being able to get any traditional driving irons up in the air, I tested and then built myself a Sim Max OS 4-iron. Already strongly lofted at 18*, I bent it to 16*, slightly longer Ventus Blue shaft and adjusted grip weight to get my swing weight dialed in. It makes a fantastic low iron off the tee for average swing speed. Plenty of weight down low to get the ball up in the air, and about half the cost of a lot of other driving irons.

I'd like to see a similar test done with a high hdcp'er comparing a rather less forgiving club to these so we don't have a pro subconsciously manipulating the club striking.

The #2 Hybrid, opened 1 click for additional anti-left protection, is an absolute no brainer for every better player. I use the Mizuno 2020 CLK #2 16-degree hybrid, opened 1-click to 15-degrees, and ordered with the amazingly no up-charge Tensei White Pro edition 94 gram TX Flex shaft, 1/2 inch shorter. I use it for exactly the situation described in this video, that low driving 235 carry, roll out to 255 tee shot, but it also can be hit off the fairway into Par 5s. Once you have one of these clubs, you will never buy a 2 iron again

Thank you. So many review comparisons are off the deck. Especially utility irons which are often called driving irons. Nice to see a comparison with a tee. Although I drive the ball decent there are many par 4 holes where a 230 yd shot will leave a wedge for a second shot. Where I struggle is do I go high (hybrid) or low with a driving iron. Which one do you think is more accurate?

Thanks, just the review I was looking for. Just got to wait wee while to get fitted for a Sim 2 17 degree.

I use a Bridgestone JGR 2, TM Sim 4 hybrid. Love it. Big fan of hybrids.

Rather hit my Cobra utility iron than a hybrid any day. Can only crank it down to 19.5 though. Use to love my Ping eye2 1iron years ago . My go to club.
Great video again 👏

Yep - you should have shown us a few at standard 17 degrees with the Sim2 Rescue Mike. I think that might have been the sweet spot

Mike, hybrid at 18 wins for sure based on slightly missed ballspeed and strokes gained. Key is not have a utility that launches too high or hooks for us faster guys. That one looks peachy

I fell in love with hybrids once I found the TS2. I put my 23* in the C1 (lower and flatter) and it is incredible. About to add a 5 hybrid to the bag soon.

Can you also do the TM DHY (driving hybrid) as well. Would be greatbto see the difference between the driving iron and driving hybrid.(different than the rescue)

I'm swapping between my Callaway Apex 2 hybrid and my Titleist T-MB 2 iron depending on course and conditions.

Nice comparison, thanks👍. 2 Rescue for me, only question in my mind is 4 iron or rescue🤔, especially in the wind...

I play the P790 2 driving iron, have the OG sim hybrid in the bag, and just snagged the sim 2 rescue 2 hybrid, all have their places and purposes. each club is nice. i prefer the rescue 2 over the og sim, most hybrids have draw bias inherently, but the rescue 2 is so easy to shape either direction, the 2 iron is great as well but lacks ability when you find yourself in those tricky lies, thats where the rescue/hybrid will always outshine. i like the 2 iron for windy days, much easier to keep it low and flight it down.

I’ve been thinking about getting a strong lofted 4 iron to use when it’s windy. Maybe a Wilson d9?. What do you think? Btw you play a totally different game to me. I thought I played golf til I saw you strike a ball! Ha ha.

Would have liked to see the Dhy against the hybrid as more of a match

Could never get any distance control with a hybrid. Mizuno mp 20 hmb 2 and 3 irons are the best feeling long irons.
