#5 is good with the I maj7 too. (Keyboard player here) Great tension leading to the 3rd of the IV chord. Don’t know how you’d voice that on the guitar though.

Whether you should really depends on what is going on with everything else the band is doing, you can really get in others way, and sometimes an Fmajor just needs an F major

Made me laugh several times! Love the off-the-cuff randomness. As a 1-year beginner, the chord shapes all seem interesting and doable, but i would really like to be able to do what you do with your right hand! It's so effortly rhythmic and varied. It seems like you're just casually NOT playing certain strings on certain strums to add some of that variety. Is that true or am i imagining things? What's a good way to think about/practice all the variety on the right hand within any given chord shape?
