The Banna people of Ethiopia have an awesome tradition for young men and boys: Mastering the activity of stilt walking. These Banna tribe youngsters are true experts with stilts as boys and young men use them in various ways such as: keeping an eye on cattle, seeing further than they usually would be able to, and navigating difficult terrain. They are even involved in cultural events such as weddings and other celebrations!

Have a go at subscribing if you’d like to see more interesting shorts nearly every day. Reaching 100k is the dream!

Do note that there are a few videos that name the most important purpose of the stilts to be avoiding snakes, but they absolutely see the most use by young boys of the Banna people to see herds of cattle and perhaps where water may lie. They have other benefits as I mentioned, but otherwise they’re used in ceremonies such as weddings and celebrations. I highly recommend using YouTube to learn more about the Banna people as plenty of individuals have visited and talked with the very inviting tribe.
