DOCTOR answers most searched CORONAVIRUS questions on Google

Lots of YouTubers putting out great videos on COVID-19; I thought I'd make something super accessible answering the most common questions being Googled about the virus.

Everything accurate to the best of my ability on date of upload.

CORRECTIONS:
- I make it sound in the intro that the actual virus name is COVID-19 (the virus name is SARS-CoV-2). I was trying to distinguish it from other coronaviruses rather than name the actual virus. Sorry for any confusion.

You missed the important question: "Do you need to stack up on toilet paper becuse of the coronavirus?"

Mate you look exhausted. I hope you are getting enough sleep. Self care is just as important as the help you give to others. - From a very busy Paramedic in Southern California.

I love the top two questions that kept popping up in Google:
“Is Corona gluten free?”
“Is Coronation Street on tonight?”
Helps keep things in perspective 😄

CLARIFICATION I mention at the end of the video that "once you have the virus once, you can't get it again"; there is no doubt short-term immunity but obviously won't know for sure if long-term. And there is always the possibility of the virus mutating too, meaning previous immunity would be ineffective. Apologies if this caused any confusion.

Please everyone keep yourself safe, we are preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.

Thank you to everyone concerned that I am looking tired(!), that's because I recorded this early in the morning after a lovely lie in :) Many of you know I teach medical students part time, and all the students have been sent home, so I'm going to be full time on the ground. I'll keep you all posted, I may start doing a vlog if things develop and safe to do so. Love you all! X

I'm a Texan nurse. I see a lot of people complaining that the Rodeo was cancelled. I'm actually very grateful that it was cancelled because we do need time to treat those who are already infected. If huge social events are held during this time, many more cases will inevitably occur and we may not be equipped to deal with the sudden influx of infected individuals. While we should not panic, it is important that we treat this pandemic with respect and be willing to sacrifice some leisurely activities for the good of the community.

SARS was able to be contained more easily because people showed symptoms more immediately.

We love you, doctor!

Having said this, I'm a little sadden by some members of the public on the way they treat health care professionals. There was a nurse that boarded the bus, and an older woman probably in her 40s told her off. The woman's point was that she was around the infected, and that she should think of the public and take a cab home or bike home or something.
When a dude defended the nurse, the woman turned on him and accused him if being a nurse as well and told him to get out.

I wished I had the courage to defend those 2. My grandmother was recently warded in hospital and the nurses served above and beyond in this time of need. Even when the paitents were grumpy or rude, they have been so kind (as much as they could be) to as many people as they could.

Thank you, nurses and doctors. Deep down inside, you know we love you.

Always good to hear from medical professionals. I hope you're getting the rest you need and that everything goes as smoothly as possible for everyone at your hospital.

Thinking of front line workers—I'd like to add grocery store employees to that list. People are swarming the stores like locusts. These workers are going to be exhausted, making them more vulnerable, and exposed to many, many people. And I'm in the US, where these same folks might not have paid sick leave or similar nets to fall on.

Thank you for this, thank you for putting your time and energy to educating us.
We know that your job will be taking up a lot of your time, and if you won't be able or don't feel like uploading that is more than understandable. Please, don't let anyone pressure you, for now self care is way more important than our entertainment and we understand that.
Stay safe everyone!

I've not seen this mentioned, but very important in fighting Covid-19: get plenty of sleep. 7 to 9 hours per night. Sleep greatly helps your immune system.
