Measuring Impedance Using TDR Techniques on an Oscilloscope

preview_player
Показать описание
Examples showing how to use Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) to measure impedance and length of cables and PCB traces as well as printed circuit board dielectric constant and fault location. You will see several examples of how impedance differences and mismatches show up.

Also, see how you can use the same fast edge used for TDR measurements to quickly check cables and connections for flatness.

The setup includes:
· 10 GHz 6 Series MSO Oscilloscope to measure the response
· Picotest Fast Edge signal generator (32 ps typical) with the included 10 GHz power splitter as a source
· Picotest P2104A 50Ω transmission line probe

Great video! Does the rise time of the test signal have an impact on the measured impedance? If so, how do you determine what rise time to use for evaluating line impedance?
