After Deconstruction

Показать описание
In this presentation, Dr. Brock Bahler (University of Pittsburgh) explores deconstruction as a creative and innovative practice that can help us to unlearn habits shaped by white supremacy.
Are you a Christian doing the hard work of questioning, doubting, and reformulating what you believe? If so, you’ve probably heard the shorthand description for this process: “deconstruction.” In this talk, Dr. Brock Bahler explores deconstruction as a creative and innovative practice that is not only about what we think but also about what we do. It’s especially valuable as we reckon with racial injustice. Because many of our religious settings are tethered to white supremacy, they can shape our spiritual habits in harmful ways that are invisible to us. But Dr. Bahler shares how he unlearned some of those habits and how we can develop new practices that give life to faith!
Dr. Brock Bahler is a Senior Lecturer and the Director of Undergraduate Studies in Religious Studies at the University of Pittsburgh where he teaches in the fields of philosophy of religion, Christian philosophy, Jewish philosophy, philosophy of race, continental philosophy, embodied cognition, and philosophy of childhood. He edited the book The Logic of Racial Practice: Explorations in the Habituation of Racism.
