How I Interplant Nitrogen Fixing Cover Crops & Food Crops for the Fall

As I harvest crops planted this spring, I interplant nitrogen fixing cover crops and food crops for the fall, ensuring a continuous harvest and an ample supply of nitrogen.

I'm passionate about an approach to organic gardening that is frugal, easy, sustainable, and works with nature to achieve amazing results. My videos will help you grow more healthy organic fruits and vegetables, while working less and saving money. I don't push gardening products. I don't hype bogus "garden secrets". I provide evidence based strategies to help you grow a lot of food on a little land without spending much or working harder than you have to!

Thank you for putting the metric units up on screen as well. I've always appreciated that.

Last fall was my first cover crop in all my years of gardening. I was amazed at the amount of nodules, such an important part of gardening "the right way". Thanks as always for your great video's. Really inspired me this year.

Mr. Dolan, I have nothing but the greatest of admiration for all the pertinent information you so generously share with us. "Appreciation" would hardly encompass all you do. Many thanks...! Would you be so kind to produce a video that highlights your watering regimen...? Again, kudos to you for all the information you provide.

That's cool you mulched the cover crop lightly and then that material gets incorporated into next year's garden too.

I would buy it too! Clearly we would be getting info from more than books these days, but being tied to the internet is not exactly something I want to bring into the garden. A good cuppa and a gardening book is the perfect start to my summer mornings!

Every year I set a cover crop over my beds. Planting cover crops is a staple within organic farming....I turn it right after the first frost but I have to say in Cali you have to pick the right time to even plant a cover crop as frost days are variable depending on where you live in the state. farmers Almanac is a plus !

Thanks for the source. Compared to the other mixes I've looked at online, this is extremely cheap.

essentially what i do to add cover crop - rows of chile peppers get one row of covers planted on each side, and i use oats, peas, hairy vetch, and a slim mix of yellow and crimson clover. Thanks for the video!

I was just looking at this site for cover crops, I was sent there by Justin Rhodes BUT am glad to see another gardener I respect using their stuff as well. I have some tough soil to build. Thanks!
