Guys for those who don’t know they just came out with a new expansion pack. Check out their new design series. I’m sure you’re gonna like it cause on the Roland website, you can actually hear the examples and it sounds awesome way to go Roland and DW, we salute you

Like seeing the different skill levels being demo’d here. You really get a sense for how the kit might sound under most people’s playing ability.

I love this video, thank you for going through the trouble to make it. Gotta tell you though, there are some "hidden" kits you missed. The factory expansion packs have about ten kits that aren't "installed". If you go to the "expansion" button on the V71, you can install the missing kits manually. There are two really nice "UK" kits and a bunch of world/techno/etc kits that aren't installed as presets unless you do it yourself. Maybe something to add if you do a demo video of some of the Roland Cloud kits (DW 50th, Singerland, etc.)

Thanks a lot Drum Tec! In my opinion these kits are definitely a step up from before. However, I personally don't think its worth it for me. I use Steven Slate Drums with my VAD 504 and am really happy with the results. VST libraries are still killing modules to me. Some of these kits do sound good though.

Nice video, how do you think the v71 compares to the previous gen modules sound-wise?
To me it is only a minor upgrade.

Some solid sounds here but honestly I like the kits on the Alesis Strata Prime module better

Most videos on YouTube demoing and judging ekits alone, not in the mix of a full song. Truth is if you separated the drum tracks of 99% of every album, you’d think they sound like crap. Every instrument alone vs how they sit in the mix are 2 very separate things.
Recording and editing real kits is a pain in the balls. The beauty of ekits are that they get us there a lot quicker and easier with a lot less effort.
I only say this because I never see anyone address it and wish they would

I have this module and use it with DWe drums. It’s great.

When I’m practicing I actually prefer the Roland sounds - they “cut” better so I can hear my note definition extremely well - whether I’m playing with a click or grooving with a song.

Recording? Using a VST anyway so who cares about the onboard sounds

Live? The DW expansion packs (Acrylic rips) have you covered

The sounds may be better, but they still have that Roland sound. Although I think the Roland e-kit is good, I do think other e-kit manufacturers do heave much better accustic stage and studio sounds.

Thanks for this playthrough. Now l know for sure that l don't want a Roland module. I really hope that you will get Pearl module back in stock. I'm thinking about drum tec pro and a pearl module.

these sound better than the 50x. id' prolly still get sick of certain cymbal or tom samples after 6 months. such is the case with all modules and vst's. 4 me anyway

Sold electronic kits for decades, they have not come very far in sounds. They all sound very lacking in variation of timbre and dynamic.

I cant believe that is 7-8 grand. I listened to all of them and not once did I think, they sound great. This is especially true of the toms. They sound diabolical. I could make any pearl export level kit sound thrice as good as this. The fact that I am thinking of getting one of these is also completely confusing. Because I just want the pads and triggering ability. The sounds are complete crap unless I didn.t make that clear. My alesis strike pro with superior drummer sounds way better than any of the kits I just listened to. Sorry, should post online if ya don't want opinions. Someone below saysa kit without the music in a studio would also sound... diabolical. yea right. tell dave weckle that. or steve gadd.
