Who would've thought it would actually be this difficult to just watch a movie in it's original form....

There's something so satisfying about watching the Special Edition and re-release changes getting removed or covered up. It's like watching someone remove graffiti off of a national monument after 20 years.

Brilliant. A group of rebels did something with their technology an empire couldn't do with theirs.

You people are saints. You and every member of the team and all who provided the sources. May the force be with you all.

This is like watching a painting restoration.

Due to an inconsiderate journalist posting an article on CinemaBlend telling everyone to email me to find out how to download the Despecialized Edition, I can no longer provide my email address as a means for people to contact me for help. Simply far too many requests.

To those of you still needing help: The video description has always included a link to Pastebin which contains the exact same instructions I would have emailed you. If you were able to read the description to find my email before, you should be able to go to that link and do what it says.

If you still need help, there are other ways to contact me. Figure it how to get a hold of me and I'll know you're dedicated enough to be worth helping. May the Force be with you!

Truly incredible stuff. I've watched The Despecialized editions several times now, they've become my primary method of viewing Star Wars, and all I can say is bravo. The amount of work that went into these things is truly praiseworthy. Especially so because, for the foreseeable future, it seems these editions are going to be the only way of seeing Star Wars as I remember it from childhood in acceptable quality.

Seriously, this is Criterion Collection worthy. I hope when Disney gets the distribution rights from 20th Century Fox in 2020, they turn to Harmy's restoration because this is a brilliant effort!

The title taking out that big, stupid looking dinosaur thing is one of the most satisfying things I've ever seen. I can't imagine how much work went into the despecialized edition... Thank you so much.

This project is so wonderful, it shows how passionate fans can be when they love something. Bravo to everyone involved!

It'll never cease to amaze me the stuff that fans can pull off with a bit of effort. This as opposed to a lazy corporate slug who won't give people what they want for no other reason than it's embarrassing for him to admit he was wrong to fuck with the movies in the first place.

Harmy's Star Wars: Despecialized v2.5 is now available as both a 17.9 GB MKV (with all available audio extras) and a 7.9 GB AVCHD ISO (for burning to DVD-DL and playback in most Blu-ray players).
Instructions to download are same as before; see the video description for help. Happy late Star Wars Day!

If a group of fans using all manner of sources can put together something like this, you have to imagine that a professional studio wouldn't have too much trouble restoring the original theatrical versions if they had access to original prints and negatives.

I think, over the years, I've purchased 5-6 versions (in various formats) of these films. I don't feel one fucking bit guilty about downloading this.
