Steve was chatting with the Pirelli guys recently about how to tackle steep technical rock climbs, and they had a chat about controlled riding with less tyre pressure... well… the chat continued and so Pirelli sent us some of their new tyres to take on the challenge! In this video, we find out the demands of an eMTB specific mountain bike tyre.

What tyre pressures do you ride? Let us know 👇

But how does it compare in ride quality, control, grip, and durability to other equivalents? Take a few minions, assegais, marrys, scoprions and what not in a few compounds and give us data.

Pirelli where my tyre of choice when racing and doing trackdays, Pirelli don't make bad tyres so these must be worth a punt for a fat lad riding trails 👍at the moment I'm very happy with the Maxxis Minions I have on which I run 25psi F & R.

Pirelli scorpion or Schwalbe Eddy Current, mmmm. I need new tires and had the Eddy Current on my previous emtb. They were very nice. Especially the back tire.

Would have liked to seen more about the rear tire option.

Well done thanks Steve .Nothing wrong with getting paid to spread the Joy of Emtbs. This proves again that we are all on the Emtb learning curve as none of us really know what these Time Machines are capable of. I Like the sidewall insert .E=Mtb2

I rode the S and Rear combo on the new Specialized Levo SL and they feel really good

I wonder how good these would be on an ordinary G16 Geometron?

I still think MTB tyres have a long way to go in terms of sidewall design and these may start to push that area forwards.

I'm still waiting for a sandwich construction with foamed rubber compound in the middle - higher sidewall stiffness with low weight and improved damping. I think it would avoid dinged rims too.

More choices for emtb's is what we all want. Thanks for the info.

I think you just found the next tires I am gonna be putting on my 'Stache. I appreciate all the info in this video and don't find it too much like an 'overpaid' promotion....

Still think, maxxis assegai dh casing tires on the rear and a exo casing up front is the best

Price ? Im sure its eye watering .
Maxxis Minion 2.5 DHF DH casing Wide trail, no need to re invent the tyre .

Admire Pirelli's influencer marketing. They are flooding social media sites with this product. Hope it succeeds, lots of tough competition from the likes of Michelin (also using lots of influencers) and Maxxis. Good business decision by Pirelli to only have one width - keeps inventory down. Just switched from stock Butchers on my Turbo Levo to Assegai front and DNR rear with cushcore. Just wondering why I waiting so long! Be great if Specialized would drop Butchers in favor of a better tire like these. EMBN and the associated sites have such great production quality.

1st go went further to the right onto the dirty line, lowered pressures and went heaps further to the left and clean line... Not really fair.

Nice video as always with all this side wall stiffness is it worth it to combine with cushcore or similar tire inserts?
