if the waves pt.1 was about restlessness then the flames pt.2 is about being propelled into action, no matter what the consequence.

fire is powerful, it is creation and destruction, it is restless and ungovernable but it is necessary for creation.

for me personally there seemed to be no more powerful way to represent this than setting fire to the thing that started my whole musical journey.
as a symbolic commitment to continued creation, no matter where it takes me.

any track on a mostly melted Silent Alarm record played with a rusty needle would sound better than this. Matt's explosive percussion with Gordy's bass & influence alongside Kele & Russell's guitar interplay, then Kele's early shouty voice & early lyrical mastery and Russell's (consistent) genius was lighting in a bottle. This is still a nice mellow tune though and a nice listen before bed. I hope one day Kele can put aside his disdain for the past. Johnny Rotton was a bad guy in some respects, but should not define. Our perceived acceptance of our past does define, which is why it's important for a wiser mind to re-evaluate. Always new depths.
