I went to Vietnam 24 years ago. It didn't look like that. The roads were dirt tracks. The poverty was huge. The amount of cripples from the US war was just eye opening. I spent weeks travelling South to North. Was fantastic.

That’s actually really expensive for Vietnam. Stay in a nice hostel, private room and pool with travellers all having fun trading ideas where to go all for about 30 quid. Depends on the season

Hubby and I just stayed here in October 2023! It was a paradise on earth. 3 bedroom villa is a smallest there is and it only cost us $160/day!!!

That's $420/night. Right around what similar rentals cost elsewhere. An 8 person villa in the mountains overlooking wine country is less than that.
