The biased view passed down too those who choose too take the side of human intellect being more important than GODS, only passes on ignorance and foolishness.... The roman church of that time, was dogmatic and wrong, but not because it followed God. That church railed against centuries of roman oppression and " human intellect". And it became prideful in its own intellect too. You leave out the persecution and murdering of thousands of Christ followers, who worshipped the true God, by romans and intellectual power leaders..
