I was 14 back in 94. My parents divorced and I was alone. I snuck into my Christmas presents early and carefully unwrapped the 2 snes games like a ninja. I got final fantasy 3 and donkey kong country. I snuck the cartridges only up to my room and was on Christmas break. I spent some serious time with these games and ff3 was my favorite game. The music, story, and character building i fell in love with.

I remember well being in 10th grade asking our grandmother around release day if she could check to see if it was in stock during her Wal Mart grocery run. (We didn't expect any miracles living an hour out of town.) But when we saw the faint image of that iconic box art showing through a Wal Mart bag, words can't describe the emotions! 😎

My brother from another mother. Man I’ve said it before but thank you for being you. You chose to really dive into this world as Johnny and without ever meeting people you’ve helped and entertained. I don’t think you’ll ever understand the hardships and garbage I’ve endured for the last 13 years now. I’ve lost family friends time. Your love for games resonated with me and has done so much for me over the years. You may think you just set up a camera and have a bit of fun but you gave a guy a seemingly real friend. Tuning in to see what you guys are playing and up to has made me feel a sense of community as a bit of a social recluse. Hearing your stories about growing up was so similar to my own that I often wonder in a different life how good of friends we may have been. Anyway I really just wanted to say that what you do is much larger than it is on paper. You’ve created a safe place, a hang out, an atmosphere for people that love this art form to feel validated and understood. Life can be a lot but having your show to tune into and watch with my son Gaven has been an immense pleasure. I hope this finds you and your family well. My parents got me this game from the swamp meet when I was 11 and now I'm almost 40 and I beat this game several times. One of my favorite games in the franchise

Played this for the first time on the SNES mini with my brother on coop a few years ago, really amazing and special game for sure

My story is a little bit different. Someone brought it over, and I just liked it. So I would rent it. I remember we could rent a game for a couple of days for like two bucks, and I ended up renting it for six months straight.

Unfortunately, when I brought it back sometimes, I couldn’t necessarily retain my save, and I would always play through other people’s journeys and just role-play. It sort of reminds me of Skyrim.

And then eventually, one day, six months down the line, someone broke the cartridge. So my parents finally figured they were going to go ahead and buy this game for me since I had been looking for it for six months and rented it for six months.

So, I think I believe I got this for Christmas. I can’t remember, but this is the game that changed my life forever.

Also, I was 9 years old at this point in time. And what’s really funny is when I eventually did beat the game, I was level 18. And that is because… I just ran away from every single fight. So I managed to get through the game by simply running through every battle.

There was only one battle that required me to be a certain level, and that was the airship. So I only got 4 characters to level 17 and 18. Every other character in the world of Destruction was level 9 or 10. And I essentially got through the game by just playing the game tactically.

When you think about it, my laziness made the game essentially harder than what it needed to be. And plus, once you get Ultima, you could essentially just spam that. But it also made Kefka’s Tower a lot more difficult.

Because what I ended up having to do was for those boss fights that you just had to fight, I literally had to do one section at the tower at a time because I would have to bring my main party in, warp out, and then go back in to take care of the bosses.

So I literally made it harder for myself for no reason. Well, the reason was I wanted to make it easier, and I was lazy, but I just made the game harder, and I ended up doing some things that most people can’t imagine doing.

Yes! This game changed my life. Got it as a teen, got it again so many times since then, including last week. Playing through it again right now. If Square ever wanted to make a 3-D version, I believe that would out do anything they've released since then. But please, don't change anything. Like the FF7 remaster, ugh, no.
