Sverige är ett annorlunda land. Man vill helst va för sig själv. Det är långt mellan husen.
Bra video !

I lost my last account and I'm so happy I found this channel again. I plan to visit Sweden this year, if all goes well, I might be studying for my masters there as well. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your thoughts and journey with us. I grew up most of my life here in America but many of my foreign friends tell me that I don't carry myself like an American. I've always wanted to travel and live in another country as a kid and within the last few years Sweden has won my heart completely. I hope everything goes smoothly. Wish me luck! :)

Very good video! After having moved from the U.S. to Sweden 20 years ago, I can relate to everything you mentioned - hard to find friends, takes at least 3-4 years to get comfortable with the culture changes, and emotionally switching between loving everything and hating everything. I'm not done with Sweden, either. Congrats on your channel's anniversary, and I've very happy for your success - you've truly earned it.

I’m Swedish and I moved to the UK straight after “gymnasiet” when I was18 years old. First as an au pair, but I stayed and worked, and then started studying at uni and completed two degrees, before moving back to Sweden. Now I’m back abroad (almost ten years this time). Based on my experiences, there are a few things I think everyone should do in life - 1) live abroad and try to establish a new life in a different culture - it’s an important perspective that probably will afford you more empathy, 2) work in a customer service profession - it teaches you how to treat people nicely, and 3) work as a public servant - it’ll decrease the risk of falling for the “deep state” conspiracies when you realise that “the State” is just made up largely by average run-of-the-mill people - no better, no worse. None of it had to be a “for-life” choice, but a year of each would probably be enough ;) just my take.

You ARE contributing to the Swedish society, (yours and mine) of which you are a very welcome "new" member (at least in comparison, since I will be 76 in a couple of months, born here, having lived here all those years).
Your open-mindedness as far as the quirks of things Swedish, and your well-founded critisisms of some of our cultural peculiarities is refreshing (new eyes and all that)impresses med, as well as your critique and critical assesment of what has been - and is - happening in the US poliical arena (not to mention the weird health-care issues).
In short: You are a valuable asset, to our country, and I am learning a lot by watching you on You Tube.

Great video Andrew.

Du är varmt välkommen och i många fall tror jag du värmer och vidgar perspektiv för en hel del svenskar så väl som människor från andra länder.

Fortsätt kämpa, må väl och ta hand om dig.

Your dad was in the broadcast radio game? As a host or some sound tech guy? My younger brother got his own radio show called "Rix FM Morronzoo" hosting the show and the only person in Swedish history to lose money ever single time he bought a new apartment. My advice is to listen to his finacal advice and do anything but what he just suggested.
My first real realitionship came about when my fridge broke and I moved in with her and her friend. I don't know what happened to be honest? One girl moved out and the other stayed with me and the working fridge.

The audio is perfect now!

Thanks for sharing your story. I guess it takes a couple of years to adjust to life in a new country, especially when in a new corner of the world with friends and family far away. In the 19th century, Sweden was a country many emigrated from to find a better life in the US. That flow won't reverse now, but I see here that many Americans explore life abroad and I think it's a good thing. I was one of those teens in the 70's who really liked the disco music style and loads of it came from America. Going there was something I dreamed about. The vibes were progressive and creative. Well, I've been to America twice, but I still live in Sweden and am happy for it.

I have been wanting to go/move to Sweden (from the US) for years, and I think I've been watching your videos for over 2 of those years now. I just applied to master's programs in Sweden and will find out if I got in by early April. Hearing your stories and honest thoughts over these years has been enlightening, so thank you for making these videos. Wishing you the best in the years to come!

You can be really lonely in this country. If you don´t have friends, it can be so hard to make friends. It´s sad. :(
