I’m gardening up in the northwest corner of Ohio and I really enjoy your content. I tell my wife all the time that for me the garden isn’t necessarily about saving money it’s also about growing fruits and vegetables that we know are safe to eat. That sort of peace of mind is kind of priceless in my opinion.

People spend tons of money of totally useless things but you've buld a beatiful garden that gives you joy (and harvest). I like it.

Thank you for your honesty. I feel like a lot of gardening content on social media tries to give the impression that a beautiful garden costs very little money. Although there are ways to start small and inexpensively, it is refreshing to see someone being very frank about the cost of getting exactly what you want. Your garden is absolutely beautiful.

One of the (many) reasons I became a nurse anesthetist was to support my gardening habit.

Thanks for sharing your costs in a transparent, honest way! Perhaps you would consider doing a video on the cost of your seed-starting setup?

I think your vegetable garden is worth every penny, knowing how your food is grown. Love your channel!

I really enjoyed the in-depth cost breakdown. It's funny how quickly things get expensive, but I completely agree - what you made was awesome. Can't wait to see the greenhouse!

i turned my backyard into a garden full if food from a big patch of grass. when friends how much it cost me, i say about 15lbs lost, it cost me no more grass to cut every week, it cost me peace of mind knowing what i feed my family is now healthy because i grow it. so basically it was priceless. since my garden has been thriving i have lost more weight, got more healthy and its helped with my ptsd from the military.

A greenhouse would greatly benefit you, I hope you will be able to make that dream possible.

Thank you it was an amazing video. Oh and don’t forget the cost of the growing stations, lights tables, trays, etc. oh and also that really nice tractor that helps move things around and makes it faster which is necessary.

Can't put a price on happiness and you have a lovely garden that will last you a lifetime.

That seems pretty reasonable, considering how much infrastructure you put in that are one time costs. Also, when you subtract all the produce you're no longer buying from the grocery bill, it off sets it quite a bit. It might take you a few years to recoop your costs, but so worth it for such a gorgeous garden!❤

I'm planning a garden of a similar size to a property we just moved to and your design and layout is my inspiration! Yes, it's expensive to have a garden with raised beds and features like this one - but then again, how much are you saving at the grocery store? That would be an interesting calculation, especially if you're growing organic. You're probably saving hundreds if not thousands each season. Imagine what you'll save when your orchard matures. In 10 years, you'll get your investment back. Plus, you get to garden and what's not to love about that. 🙂

If you have leaves you can make your own compost and buy seeds at the end of the season. Also learning how to produce your own seeds will save you a lot of money. To get your own seeds you have to grown only heirloom seeds for your veggies then you can harvest your own seeds. Also learning how to start seedings on your own will save you lots and lots of money. Great job.

We have spent about the same in Western Kentucky putting in an orchard, greenhouse, fencing, animal housing and gardens. I never thought of it like you said towards the end of your video about the cost of putting in gardens and infrastructure versus putting in outdoor kitchens, patios, fireplaces. Once produces a wealth of health while the other is merely for the purpose of entertaining. I don't feel so bad now for spending almost 20k creating a virtual paradise of health.
Thanks for the new perspective!

One important point to highlight is that you guys had a decent experience gardening from your previous property so it made sense to make a big investment for a long term garden and get it running quickly. For someone starting new it is best to start small and see how it goes.
Also, I am surprised the deers have not entered into it yet but probably it is just a matter of time.

When you start looking at what all of that produce costs at the store, you recoup some of those costs year after year. And with the sheer volume of food I've seen you all get, that your break even mark would be fairly quick.
