Many years ago, Focal made egg speakers just like those shown here (except theirs were not red). The unique shape was chosen to both disrupt standing waves internally but also to disperse external reflections off the cabinet more uniformly. So the shape is in many ways ideal for a speaker cabinet. I would use such cabinets for my satellite speakers if I could buy or make them.

#1 Speaker, I saw the link, and it has two speakers in the levitating top enclosure. So it's stereo...In case some people were wondering. It must have the speakers sloped on the bottom of the top enclosure and reflects the sound from the bass base's top surface. And maybe a vent at the top of the hovering enclosure to disperse the sound up more (the sound from the back of the cones).
