Millennials don’t know this song. Boomers think it’s John Lennon. Ryan Lerman’s version is the one I heard. Monica Martin is the latest to pick up this hitchhiker. And my god, the flute solo! —Vulfmon

Single from the album "Here We Go Jack" by Vulfmon.

Monica Martin — vocals
Hailey Niswanger — flute
Vulfmon — keys, mixing

"Alone Again (Naturally)" by Gilbert O'Sullivan

One of the most depressing song ever written, yet the funk prevails.

I've watched soccer, american football and basketball, but that Hailey's flute interception was the most historical one ever.

Jack Stratton reminds us that he is one of the greatest minimalist funk arrangers of our collective lifetime

Monica's voice with Vulf's sound is like sinking into a warm bath at the end of a hellish week.

Not gonna lie, I teared up a bit in the first 30 seconds.

My dad used to play this song a lot when I was a kid. I lost him last year, and this song has been on my mind ever since. Haven't been able to listen to it until now. This was a beautiful rendition.

The return of Monica Martin was highly anticipated by both Flautist and Golden Sunglasses on an XL Chain communities we're truly blessed on this Vulf Friday.

Some history here: Biz Markie had a song that sampled the original. He did not get permission from Gilbert O'Sullivan's label and was sued successfully. That set precedent for artists clearing samples (and paying royalties) for sampled music.

I’m fully convinced that Vulfmon is just Jack more fully evolving into an absurdist comedian, but he’s hiding it within delightful music.

The drama of the surprise flute feature stealing Monica's thunder! Jack has not only reinvented his minimalistic composition by deleting the drum kit entirely, but has reinvented the need for a music video.

Amazing work by all involved, as always.

Can we please appreciate that marvellous flute solo at 1'40"? The tone, the control, the presence. And the notes too.

Monica spent months learning to play the flute for this session, all for nothing

Monica + Vulf = easy W. What a pretty rendition, perfect for Monica's sound

I'm glad I'm not the only one that really likes this old pop song from some Irish dude. Apparently, nothing in the song actually happened to him, he just thought up the most depressing song ever and decided it would be a bop.

The lyrics have hit me to my core, sitting here sobbing like a little child thinking about my mother's passing. I didn't realize this was a cover, but the emotions in this version hit me like a ton of bricks.

I’ve heard this song so many times, and this is the first time I think I’ve really listened to the lyrics. I always thought of it as a cheesy pop song, but now I hear the genuine heartache and Vulf and Monica couldn’t have done it any better.
(Also the flute fake out was perfect)

I remember this song from my college days FIFTY FREAKING YEARS AGO as a kind of maudlin radio tune in the background. This cover made me appreciate the song itself, and MADE ME CRY. I love you, Monica. And Jack. And Hailey.

Vulfmon just makes me happy. Chord progressions, peddle bass lines, foot pedal kick - it's ripe like the best seasonal stonefruit.

Never expected a Gilbert O'sullivan cover from Vulf records, but I'm here for it

This song has always been one of my favorites. The changes are fuckin cool, melody is melancholy, lyrics are vivid. You all killed it
