It's like we are just sitting there in the room with you as you tune up these old tube radios. Fun and relaxing to watch the signals and how we can actually see them with today's test gear, a mix of old vintage and new tech side by side. Thanks for not editing your videos much if at all, it's more real this way and easy to watch.

I do admire your stance on “ its not about money” . Much of my work endsup in the hand free of charge to deserving people even fellow ebay customers that I deal with become friends thru one of my sales. My newest persons of interest is a local College that I donated test equipment to, rather than sell it. I have also provided them with Theremin units I built. I am a former engineer, technician, educator and believe in actively pass along my knowledge, test equipment and parts for only shipping charges. Today I turned 80 am in good health and like you want to keep my mind and body in good shape. Its also a, tome in-my life I enjoy being generous. My Radio, Tv and electronics experience goes back to the late 1950’s. I have worked in industry, research, training and frequency spectrum administration with RCA and the FCC. I truly do enjoy your channel on radio the most even though I may show frustration with some of your techniques.

Generally speaking you should tune high on the band and adjust trimmer cap for signal... then tune low on band and adjust coil for signal. Then repeat both until the dial spread is good.

Hi Jim, new sub here and really enjoying your videos. Off topic, I'm not a member of any forums related to old radios. I have a question. I have just acquired a 1938 RCA Victor 98x and the power transformer is screwed to the edge of the left side of the case and not attached to the chassis, is this normal? I'm in the UK so different voltage here and wonder if that model was sold here and that's why the transformer is not chassis mounted as it needed changing? Oh also did old radios come without a rear panel? Thanks...

It would be nice to see you do some light maintenance of various test equipment pieces. The parts your received from a donor would make a good show too. I have a slew of alignment tools for every purpose as well. The seem to wear out quickly and are tool cheaply made. So, yeah use the tool one time and throw it out it a good idea . However the manufacture ring of good alignment tools seems to have gone by the wayside.
