Just wanted to post on here that I just swapped out the starter on this exact vehicle.

Click but no start. Jumping did nothing. Not the theft prevention/RFID system. Didn’t check the neutral safety switch but I had a feeling it was starter motor. Checked all relays and fuses.

Old starter motor actually passed the test at autozone but employee said was weak and didn’t fully actuate the solenoid. We put the new one in the starter just to check and it was audibly more responsive and powerful.

Swapped it out and followed the steps in this video in reverse to reassemble. Replaced the intake manifold gaskets and throttle housing gasket as well, and tightened those bolts to 16ft-lb based on a different video I saw.

Started right up! This video was amazingly helpful. Thank you so much!

This was a FANTASTIC instructional video !! Thank you ! Saved me $ 1700. Only paid $ 100 for the starter. The other review helped too, only remove the bottom bolt on the lower mount, and that will free the intake manifold.

That's one hell of a cruel joke the Honda Engineers pulled to put the starter there.

Excellent video with words of wisdom on once you finally get to the starter so you don't curse yourself trying to get that one bolt off where the positive from the battery connects to the starter!!! Thank you! 👍

Honda technician and I can say don't use an aftermarket starter when replacing if you are going to replace use the OEM on cause if not it'll cause the CEL to come and put the car in limp mode been having a ton of them come in with that same issue and the same goes with the crank position sensor

Great video, but it can be done without taking the throttle body off, I disconnected 5 hoses on the right including the large air box hose, one on the right, one in the back of the intake, and the intake bolt, pulled the intake back, held it with a cord and removed the starter....

!For people wanting to change the starter on this car! DO NOT INSTALL A AFTERMARKET STARTER, I bought one from Autozone too and installed it and a couple weeks later, check engine light comes on and car would not run. These accords really need the original starter on them because if not, they interfere with the crank sensor and mess with the electronics. Look for a remanufactured honda starter or junkyard, as long as it’s a honda starter.

What tools did you need, I need to drive 50miles to change one.

Can you help me out, i did this already but nothing happens when I try to crank my car up. Just a click on the relay that I can hear. I used an after market starter and then one from autozone and nothing

Can you tell me why after doing this my car would start then shut off like there is a kill switch or something? Starter is working great but it starts then turns off. Everything isn’t totally hooked back up just wondering if you think it’s that or something else?

Question is there a way to access the wire connector to the starter without removing the intake?

Also, don’t be afraid to try a rebuild on these starters instead of aftermarket, as you’ll find in the comments why. Many of the parts, like the brushes, are still available as of 4/8/2022, that’s probably the problem anyway, especially if you have nothing coming from the starter when you try to engage it. $50 for the part and a little sense when you take the starter apart.

Is there some reason the car cant be ramped/raised up and remove the starter from below the engine?

Still easier than when I replaced the starter on my BMW. I think that took me a total of 6 hours.
